Scientific Description

Annuals, stems several, more or less prostrate, glabrescent, with verticillate hairs. Leaves present, (8-)10-45(-50) mm long, (2-)4-10(-16) mm wide, glabrescent, with verticillate hairs; basal rosette present; cauline leaves alternate. Spikes white, ovoid or hemispherical, solitary or clustered, with densely arranged flowers. Bracts 12.5-14.5 mm long, coloured, hairy, not awned or mucronate, with a prominent midrib. Bracteoles 8.5-11.5 mm long, colourless, hairy, awned or mucronate, with a prominent midrib. Outer tepals 25-35 mm long, not entire. Inner tepals 7.5-10.5 mm long, glabrous within. Style 2.1-2.3 mm long, curved, obliquely fixed to ovary. Seeds (2.1-)2.2-2.3(-2.4) mm long, dull, orange or pale brown. Distribution: Eremaean Botanical Region; IBRA regions: Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Murchison.
