Scientific Description

Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, whorled, not continuous with stem, 8.5-11 mm long, 0.6-1 mm wide, glabrous, flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 5-6.5 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles present and persistent, 1.2-1.4 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 6.2-8.6 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 13-18 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink or purple, with some pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 17 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10.5-14 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7-0.9 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 11-13 mm long. Ovary stipitate or sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 13-14 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate or sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in August, September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Warren, Esperance and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
