Rhizomatous, proliferous perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.1-0.25(-0.45) m high. Fl. yellow, Aug to Oct. Grey or white sand, loam. Winter-wet depressions, swamps margins, drainage lines and roadside ditches.

Scientific Description

Leaves round (leaves terete), 50-220 mm long, 1-1.2 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 1.5-3.5 mm long, straight and rigid, diverging outward at around 90°; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, hairy, 70-140 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 13-20 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 4.5-9 mm long; pedicels present, 0-0.5 mm long; flowers 7.5-12 mm long. Perianth hairy, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, yellow, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 3.5-5.7 mm long. Stamens six, in one level; filaments 0.5-1 mm long; anther 1-2.7 mm long, without an appendage. Style 4-6.5 mm long. Flowers in August, September or October. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain and Avon Wheatbelt IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
