Rhizomatous, tufted perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.05-0.36 m high. Fl. yellow/red, Aug to Oct. White, grey or yellow, gravel, sandy loam, laterite.
Scientific Description
Leaves flat, 55-150 mm long, 1-2 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 0.8-3.5 mm long, with at least some small side branches at the base, straight and rigid or flexuose and soft, lying parallel with the margin or angled towards the leaf apex; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, hairy, 120-135 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 20 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 8-9.5 mm long; pedicels present, 1-2 mm long; flowers 10-14 mm long. Perianth hairy, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, yellow, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 6 mm long. Stamens six, in two levels alternating; filaments 1.5-2 mm long; anther 3-3.6 mm long, without an appendage. Style 7.5-10 mm long. Flowers in August, September or October. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Warren and Esperance IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
