Rhizomatous, perennial, herb, 0.2-0.4(-0.8) m high. Fl. yellow, Jul to Oct. Grey or yellow sand.
Scientific Description
Leaves flat, 50-170 mm long, 3-10 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 2-2.2 mm long, with at least some small side branches at the base, straight and rigid, angled towards the leaf apex; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, hairy, 130-260 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 25-55 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 10-14 mm long; pedicels present, 4-8 mm long; flowers 30-46 mm long. Perianth hairy, bilaterally symmetric, uniformly coloured or suffused with a darker colour over the base colour, yellow, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 7-10 mm long. Stamens six, in three levels, in pairs; filaments 2-3.6 mm long; anther 2-2.3 mm long, without an appendage. Style 20-30 mm long. Flowers in July, August, September or October. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain, Avon Wheatbelt and Jarrah Forest IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province. Conservation Code Priority Four (P4).
