Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.1-0.3 m high, glumes 4-5 mm long; style triquetrous, 3-branched; nut 3-angled, longitudinally 3-ridged. Fl. brown, Feb to Aug. Skeletal stony brown clayey sand. Rock crevices in sandstone, basalt outcrops.
