Scientific Description

Rhizomes spreading, glabrous. Basal sheath glabrous, glossy, striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) solid, glabrous, striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 75-400 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) spreading, dull, striate, glabrous, margins not translucent. Apex elongated, glabrous. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Posture (male inflorescences only) More or less erect, Culms unbranched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 3-7 mm long. Subtending bract glabrous, Outer bract 2-4 mm long, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Perianth glabrous. 1.7-3 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins firm and opaque, Apex acute. Inner bract 1.8-3.2 mm long. Filament 1.8-3.7 mm long. Anther 1-1.7 mm long. Style one, arising centrally from the ovary apex. Flowering Time January, April, November or December. Botanical Province South-West, IBRA Bioregions Jarrah Forest, Mallee or Warren. Conservation Code Priority Three (P3).
