Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Decumbent perennial, herb, 0.05-0.2 m high, to 1 m wide. Fl. orange/yellow, Aug to Nov. Sand (often over laterite), sandy clay.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 15-90 mm long, 5-22 mm wide, Indumentum present, with dense, stellate hairs; margins entire or toothed. Bracteoles present, 8-10 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 7-20 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with simple hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 5-7 mm long, hairy, with dense, simple hairs. Corolla yellow, 20-25 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, hairy on the outside, with dense, stellate hairs, glabrous on the inside; central lobes 9-10 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 11-12 mm long, wings present on both sides, 2.5 mm wide. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 6-7.5 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA), Avon Wheatbelt (AW) and Mallee (MAL) IBRA Region(s), of the South West (SW) Botanical Province.
