Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Ascending to erect, multi-stemmed shrub, to 1 m high. Fl. white/pink, May to Jun. Laterite, sandy soils on sandstone.

Scientific Description

Herb or shrub, with hairy stems. Leaves 70-90 mm long, 40-60 mm wide, not lobed; margins entire; hairs and scales absent (leaves quite glabrous); stipules present and persistent to older leaves or present but early deciduous (only visible on youngest leaves). Perianth clearly of two whorls (calyx and corolla), the corolla obvious and prominent. Epicalyx (extra segments or 'bracteoles' immediately below the calyx) present, 7 mm long, the lobes free, glabrous, Sessile glands absent. Calyx green, 10 mm long, the lobes fused less than half their length, Sessile glands absent, scales absent, Terminal appendages absent, number of ribs absent. Corolla white or pink, 30 mm long, glabrous. Indumentum (outside) Sessile glands present. Ovary hairs and scales absent (ovary quite glabrous); style 1, with a lobed or capitate stigma, with one style branches or lobes, mostly glabrous, wing absent. Flowering time May or June. Distribution Botanical Province Northern, IBRA Bioregion North Kimberley. Conservation Code Priority One (P1).
