Tussock-forming perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.45-2 m high, foliage resinous, panicle usually narrow and dense, lemma bi-textured with winged lobes. White-red sand, black gravelly sandy loam, sandstone, limestone. Coastal sand dunes, sand plains, rocky hills, near creek banks.
