Prickly, much-branched, non-lignotuberous shrub, to 1.5 m high. Fl. orange-red-pink, Sep to Oct. Gravelly sandy loam, brown sandy loam, white-grey sand, granite, laterite. Below & between rock outcrops, slopes, hill crests.
Scientific Description
Shrubs; branchlets hairy. Leaves whorled, 15-45 mm long, 18-20 mm wide, hairy; lamina flat, clearly widest above the middle, once divided, pinnately divided, shallowly divided, the margins flat; apex pungent, 2-2.5 mm long. Inflorescences orange or red; innermost bracts 28-35 mm long. Perianth 48-50 mm long, glabrous; pistil 53-55 mm long, style hairy. Flowers in September or October. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s). : Conservation code Threatened (T).
