Low, divaricately-branched shrub, 0.25-0.6(-1) m high. Fl. red, May to Sep. Gravelly loam, clay, sand. Flats, quartzite ridges, near granite outcrops.
Scientific Description
0.5-1 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 15-50 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, hairy, on the abaxial surface, the hairs straight; lamina subterete or flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins revolute, enclosing the lower surface of the leaf blade, forming a single groove. Inflorescences axillary or cauline, red; pedicels 5-9 mm long. Perianth 10-12 mm long; tepals all free after flower opens, hairy, simple-hairy; ovary hairy, stipitate, the stipe 0.5-1 mm long; pistil 20-22 mm long, red, pollen presenter lateral, style hairy or glabrous. Follicles hairy, not viscid, dehiscent, 12 mm long. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August, September, October or November. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Mallee (MAL) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
