Rhizomatous, tufted perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.15-0.4 m high, to 0.3 m wide. Fl. yellow, Aug to Oct. White or yellow sand, gravelly loam, winter-wet.
Scientific Description
Leaves flat, 70-180 mm long, 2-6 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 1-3.5 mm long, with at least some small side branches at the base, straight and rigid, lying parallel with the margin or angled towards the leaf apex; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, hairy, 245-320 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 5-22 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 6-15 mm long; pedicels sessile; flowers 10-19 mm long. Perianth hairy, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured or suffused with a darker colour over the base colour, yellow, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 5.7-8 mm long. Stamens six, in one level; filaments 1-2 mm long; anther 3.5-4.7 mm long, with an appendage. Style 9-11 mm long. Flowers in August, September or October. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain, Avon Wheatbelt and Jarrah Forest IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
