Rhizomatous, tufted perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.15-0.3 m high, to 0.2 m wide. Fl. yellow/cream, Sep to Nov. White, grey or yellow sand.

Scientific Description

Leaves flat, 120-255 mm long, 1.5-5 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 1-2.5 mm long, with at least some small side branches at the base, flexuose and soft, lying parallel with the margin or curved inward over the leaf blade; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, hairy, 55-160 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 15-38 mm long; floral bracts 9-15 mm long; pedicels sessile; flowers 13-18 mm long. Perianth hairy, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, yellow, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 8-10 mm long. Stamens six, in two levels alternating; filaments 1.2-2.6 mm long; anther 5-6.7 mm long, without an appendage. Style 9-10 mm long. Flowers in September, October or November. Occurs in the Coolgardie, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Esperance IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
