Shortly rhizomatous, clumped perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.2-0.6 m high. Fl. white, Sep to Nov. White or grey sand. Seasonally-wet areas.

Scientific Description

Leaves flat, 155-460 mm long, 1-4 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin present, 1-4 mm long, straight and rigid, angled towards the leaf apex; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, glabrous, 50-340 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 8-30 mm long, with several flowers; floral bracts 1.8-2.7 mm long; pedicels present, 0.5-1 mm long; flowers 5-6.5 mm long. Perianth glabrous, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, white to cream, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 3.5-5.5 mm long. Stamens six, in one level; filaments 0-0.5 mm long; anther 1.3-1.7 mm long, without an appendage. Style 3-3.7 mm long. Flowers in September, October or November. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Warren and Esperance IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
