Tuberous, perennial, herb, 0.05-0.2 m high. Fl. white-purple, Jul to Oct. White, grey or yellow sand, peat, clay loam, granite. Seasonally-wet locations, granite outcrops.

Scientific Description

Leaves flat, 60-185 mm long, 0.6-1.2 mm wide; bristles or hairs on the leaf margin absent; hairs on the surface of the leaf absent (leaf surfaces glabrous). Scape present, glabrous, 60-240 mm long. Inflorescence subtended by a bract 12-40 mm long, with one flower; floral bracts 5-9 mm long; flowers 9-14 mm long. Perianth hairy, radially symmetrical, uniformly coloured, purple, with six more or less equal tepals, the inner segments 5-9 mm long. Stamens six, in one level; filaments 1-2 mm long; anther 1-1.8 mm long, with an appendage. Style 3.2-4 mm long. Flowers in July, August, September or October. Occurs in the Geraldton Sandplains, Swan Coastal Plain, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Warren and Esperance IBRA bioregion(s), of the South-west Botanical Province.
