Erect spreading shrub, 0.1-1 m high, branchlets strongly flexuose & terete. Fl. yellow/orange & red/brown, Sep to Oct. White or grey sand. Sandplains, sandy ridges.
Scientific Description
Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 7-552 mm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, glabrous, terete; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 4.5-6 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 2-3.5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 7-8 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red, orange or brown, with some yellow, red, orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 6.2-8 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 5-5.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 5-6 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.1-0.2 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5.5-6 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 5.5-7 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, beaked. Flowers in September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions.
