Slender, erect shrub, 0.4-1 m high. Fl. pink-purple, Jan to Feb. Sandy loam over sandstone.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, continuous with stem, 60-85 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, leaflets 7-11, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 1.5-2 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 1(-2) mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present but early deciduous. Calyx 2.3-2.5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 7-7.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink or purple, with some pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws absent; standard 6.6-7 mm long, hairy at least in part, not auriculate. Stamens ten; anthers 0.6-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 4-5 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 7-7.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, bearded (with a tuft of hairs at apex), terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 20-30 mm long, 2-3 mm wide, sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in January and February. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Northern Kimberley and Central Kimberley IBRA regions.
