Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. The project team is now conducting testing of the migrated data, and a further update will be provided by the end of the financial year (1 July). Scientific Description

Shrubs, 1-1.5 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 8-30 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, hairy, on the abaxial surface, the hairs straight; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins revolute, exposing the lower surface of the leaf blade, forming a groove either side of the midvein. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, red; pedicels 5-9 mm long. Perianth 7-11 mm long; tepals all free after flower opens, glabrous; ovary glabrous, stipitate, the stipe 0.7-1.5 mm long; pistil 12-15 mm long, red, pollen presenter lateral, style glabrous. Follicles glabrous, not viscid, dehiscent, 13 mm long. Flowers in July, August or September. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s). : Conservation code Priority One (P1).
