Rhizomatous, tufted perennial, herb (sedge-like), ca 0.15 m high. Fl. Aug to Nov. White sand. Dry kwongan.

Scientific Description

Rhizomes tufted, hairy. Basal sheath glabrous, dull, striate. Culms terete, internal structure (at base of culm) hollow, hairy or glabrous, not striate, not marbled, not fasciculate. Culm 75-310 mm long. Sheaths (including blade) appressed throughout, dull, striate, hairy, margins not translucent. Apex finely pointed, hairy. Dioecious (with separate male and female plants). Male and female inflorescences similar, posture (male inflorescences only) More or less erect, Culms branched below the inflorescence. Male spikelet 6-8 mm long. Subtending bract hairy, Outer bract 5-6 mm long, margins thin and translucent, Apex acute. Perianth glabrous. 4.7-5 mm long. Inner bract glabrous, margins thin and translucent, Apex acute. Inner bract 4.5-7 mm long. Filament 4-4.5 mm long. Anther 1.3-2 mm long. Female spikelet 5-6 mm long. Subtending bract hairy, margins thin and translucent, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Outer bract 4-4.5 mm long. Perianth glabrous. NaN (?) mm long. Inner bracts 3.5 mm long, hairy, margins firm and opaque, Apex acuminate to attenuate. Style one, arising centrally from the ovary apex. NaN (?) mm long. Fruit indehiscent (nut). Flowering Time August, September, October or November. Botanical Province South-West, IBRA Bioregions Geraldton Sandplain or Swan Coastal Plain.
