Tussock-forming perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.6-2.5 m high, habit extremely robust, panicle large, spreading, spikelet few-flowered with shorter glumes. Fl. Jul to Sep. White/grey sand over sandstone or with lateritic gravel. Sandplains, near gorges.
