Tussock-forming perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.5-1 m high, panicle sparse, contracted, spikelet narrow-cuneate, lemma 3-lobed, 3-awned and hairy. Fl. Sep to Dec. Red or yellow sand. Sandplains.
