Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. The project team is now conducting testing of the migrated data, and a further update will be provided by the end of the financial year (1 July). Scientific Description

Prostrate shrubs, 0.30-0.70 m high; branchlets hairy. Leaves petiolate, alternate, 315-430 mm long, 60-80 mm wide, hairy; petiole 50-100 mm long; lamina flat, once divided, pinnately divided, divided to the midrib, with 15-20 lobes on each side, the margins flat. Inflorescences tomentose (with matted or tangled, soft, woolly hairs), cream, orange, red, pink or brown; innermost bracts 8-10 mm long, hairy. Perianth 20-25 mm long, hairy, all over, limb apex hirsute (with long, rough and coarse hairs), without awns; pistil 25-30 mm long, curved, style glabrous. Follicles hairy, villous (with soft, shaggy, weak and straight hairs), elliptic, 20-30 mm long. Flowers in September, October or November. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Mallee (MAL) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
