Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Much-branched, non-lignotuberous shrub, 0.5-3 m high. Fl. yellow-orange, Apr to Oct. White, grey or yellow sand.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 1-3 m high; branchlets hairy. Leaves petiolate, alternate, 90-160 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, hairy; petiole 15-25 mm long; lamina flat, once divided, pinnately divided, deeply divided, teeth pointing outwards, with 26-36 lobes on each side, the margins flat. Inflorescences hirsute (with long, rough and coarse hairs), yellow or orange; innermost bracts 12-16 mm long, hairy. Perianth 32-36 mm long, hairy, all over, limb apex pubescent (with soft, straight, erect hairs), without awns; pistil 39-43 mm long, curved, style glabrous. Follicles hairy, hirsute (with long, rough and coarse hairs), elliptic, 18-20 mm long. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August, September or October. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Coolgardie (COO) or Geraldton Sandplains (GS) IBRA subregion(s).
