Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

Tree or shrub, 1.5-12 m high, with epicormic buds. Fl. yellow/orange-yellow, Mar to Aug. Grey or black peaty sand. Low-lying, seasonally damp areas, along watercourses.

Scientific Description

Trees or Shrubs, 1.5-12 m high; branchlets hairy. Leaves petiolate, alternate or whorled, 150-225 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, hairy; petiole 0 mm long; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, once divided, pinnately divided, entire or shallowly divided, teeth distinctly pointing towards the apex, with 3-9 lobes on each side, the margins flat. Inflorescences tomentose (with matted or tangled, soft, woolly hairs), yellow; innermost bracts 5-6 mm long, hairy. Perianth 24-32 mm long, hairy, all over, limb apex pubescent (with soft, straight, erect hairs), without awns; pistil 28-44 mm long, hooked, style glabrous. Follicles hairy, tomentose (with matted or tangled, soft, woolly hairs), elliptic, 11-22 mm long. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July or August. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Jarrah Forest (JF), Warren (WAR) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
