Erect annual, herb, to 0.3 m high, bracts 5-6.5 mm long; staminal filaments united for 2/3 their length, free portion 0.4-0.5 mm long. Fl. pink/purple/white, Jan to Jul. Skeletal sandy soils, brown loam. Woodland and grassland on sandstone escarpments, rocky slopes.
