Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. The project team is now conducting testing of the migrated data, and a further update will be provided by the end of the financial year (1 July). Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Low spreading or erect shrub, 0.1-0.5(-1) m high. Fl. white, Sep to Nov. Sand or sandy gravel. Slopes with quartzite boulders, undulating plains.

Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets verrucose (warty), +/- cylindrical in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves alternate, simple, 5-11 mm long, 0.6-1 mm wide, flat, the margins concave (curved inward), verrucose (warty), glabrous; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers terminal. solitary; pedicels 2.5-3 mm long; calyx present, 1.5-3 mm long, verrucose (warty), glabrous; corolla white or cream, petals five, 6-7.5 mm long, imbricate (overlapping), free, glabrous; stamens twice as many as petals, 3-4.5 mm long, smooth, hairy; anthers 1 mm long, with an appendage. Flowers in September, October and November. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Mallee and Esperance IBRA region(s). Conservation Code: Priority Two (P2).
