Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Non-lignotuberous shrub, 0.5-2 m high. Fl. yellow-orange/brown, Apr to Aug or Oct. Grey sand, sandy clay. Winter-wet areas, swamps.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 1-1.5 m high; branchlets hairy. Leaves petiolate, alternate, 15-55 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, glabrous; petiole 1.5-3 mm long; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins revolute. Inflorescences tomentose (with matted or tangled, soft, woolly hairs), yellow or brown, hairy. Perianth 18-25 mm long, hairy, all over, limb apex hirsute (with long, rough and coarse hairs), without awns; pistil 23-34 mm long, hooked, style glabrous. Follicles hairy, tomentose (with matted or tangled, soft, woolly hairs), elliptic, 12-20 mm long. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August, September or October. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA) or Jarrah Forest (JF) IBRA subregion(s).
