Shrub, 0.3-1.5 m high. Fl. red, Sep to Dec or Jan to Feb. White, yellow or brown sand, gravel, sandy loam.
Scientific Description
Shrubs, 0.5-1 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 10-55 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, hairy, on the abaxial surface, the hairs straight; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins revolute, enclosing the lower surface of the leaf blade, forming a groove either side of the midvein. Inflorescences terminal, orange or red; pedicels 1.5-3 mm long. Perianth 7-9 mm long; tepals all free after flower opens, hairy, simple-hairy; ovary hairy, stipitate, the stipe 2-5 mm long; pistil 25-30 mm long, orange or red, pollen presenter oblique, style glabrous. Follicles hairy, not viscid, dehiscent, 7-11 mm long. Flowers in September, October, November or December. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Coolgardie (COO), Mallee (MAL) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
