Erect herb, 0.15-0.25 m high. Fl. purple, Jan to Feb or Apr. Sand on sandstone pavement, laterite gravel. Flooded depressions below sandstone ridges.

Scientific Description

Stems ribbed. Leaves flat, 9-30 mm long, 0.5-4 mm wide, Indumentum absent (leaves glabrous); margins entire or toothed. Bracteoles absent. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 15-25 mm long, glabrous. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 0.6 mm long, glabrous. Corolla purple, 8-10.5 mm long, auriculate, not spurred, glabrous on the outside, glabrous on the inside; central lobes 1.2-1.7 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 2.5-4 mm long, wings present on both sides, 0.3-0.6 mm wide. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 5-7 mm long, glabrous; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in January, February and March. Occurs in the Northern Kimberly (NK) IBRA Region(s), of the Northern (N) Botanical Province.
