Open, erect shrub, to 2 m high. Fl. pink-purple, Apr or Oct to Dec or Jan. Red or yellow-grey clayey sand, dark brown loam, organic litter, laterite. Swamps, gullys, winter creeks, river banks, slopes, roadsides.

Scientific Description

Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, winged or strongly angled in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves opposite, simple, 10-20 mm long, 2-8 mm wide, flat, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers in terminal, loose clusters (cymes or panicles); pedicels 8-10 mm long; calyx present, 2-5 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; corolla pink or purple, petals four, 5-9 mm long, imbricate (overlapping), free, glabrous; stamens twice as many as petals, smooth, ciliate (with a marginal fringe of hairs); anthers 0.8-1 mm long, with an appendage. Flowers in April, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Warren and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA region(s).
