Prostrate or weakly ascending shrub, to 1 m high. Fl. yellow-green, Sep to Dec. Clay or sandy soils. Banks of water courses and at swamp margins.

Scientific Description

Twining or climbing plants. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 12-50 mm long, 8-35 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins or strongly incurved, appearing terete but grooved above; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 3 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 2-2.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present but early deciduous, not striate. Calyx 8.5-9 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 15-17 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or green, with some yellow or green spots, streaks or blotches; claws absent; standard 15 mm long, glabrous, auriculate, wings 12-15 mm long, auriculate, keel 12-16 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 11.2-15 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 14-15 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Warren and Esperance IBRA regions.
