Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

The notice period started at 9:45 am on Friday, 12 December 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 2 March 2026 +08:00.

Erect perennial, herb or shrub (subshrub), to 0.6 m high. Brown, grey, yellow or white sand, brown sandy loam, laterite. Slopes and flats.

Scientific Description

Stems unribbed. Leaves flat, 3-7 mm long, 0.4-0.5 mm wide, Indumentum absent (leaves glabrous); margins entire. Bracteoles absent. Pedicel pedicellate, Pedicel length the pedicels 9-14 mm long, Indumentum present, Hair type with absent hairs. Calyx lobes present, Calyx length 6-9 mm long, glabrous. Corolla white or blue, 12-22 mm long, without auricles, not spurred, glabrous on the outside, hairy on the inside; central lobes 6-8.5 mm long, with wings; outer lobes 5.5-8 mm long, wing present on both sides and clearly unequal, 0.3-0.5 mm wide on the narrower side, 0.4-1 mm wide on the broader side. Anthers free. Ovary inferior, not gibbose; style 10-18 mm long, hairy; indusium single, hairy; ovules more than two. Flowers in November. Occurs in the Swan Coastal Plain (SWA) and Jarrah Forest (JF) IBRA Region(s), of the South West (SW) Botanical Province. Conservation Code: Conservation code Priority One (P1).
