Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. The project team is now conducting testing of the migrated data, and a further update will be provided by the end of the financial year (1 July). Erect shrub, 1.5-4(-6) m high. Fl. white-cream, Jun to Dec or Jan (mainly Sep-Nov). Yellow or red sand. Sandplains.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 2-4 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 70-180 mm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, glabrous; lamina flat, once divided, pinnately divided, entire or divided to the midrib; lobes 60-180 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, the margins revolute, exposing the lower surface of the leaf blade, forming a groove either side of the midvein. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, white or grey; pedicels 2-3 mm long. Perianth 4-6 mm long; tepals all free after flower opens, hairy, simple-hairy; ovary hairy, stipitate, the stipe 1.5-2.5 mm long; pistil 15-20 mm long, white or yellow, pollen presenter oblique, style glabrous. Follicles hairy or glandular hairy, not viscid, dehiscent, 15-20 mm long. Flowers in January, June, July, August, September, October, November or December. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Little Sandy Desert (LSD), Central Ranges (CR), Yalgoo (YAL), Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD), Coolgardie (COO), Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Avon Wheatbelt (AW) or Mallee (MAL) IBRA subregion(s).
