Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Spreading, lignotuberous shrub, 0.35-1.8 m high. Fl. white-cream/pink-other, Jul to Dec. Sand, clay, gravel, granite, laterite, limestone. Slopes, near river banks, swamps, ridges, sandplains, railway verges.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 0.30-1.5 m high; branchlets hairy, not glaucous. Leaves alternate, 10-50 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, hairy, on the adaxial or abaxial surface, the hairs straight; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire, the margins recurved or revolute, enclosing the lower surface of the leaf blade, forming a single groove. Inflorescences axillary or terminal, white, cream or grey; pedicels 3-5 mm long. Perianth 2-3 mm long; tepals some joined and some free after flower opens, hairy, simple-hairy; ovary hairy, stipitate, the stipe 0.5-1 mm long; pistil 4-6.5 mm long, white or cream, pollen presenter lateral, style hairy. Follicles hairy, not viscid, dehiscent, 8-12 mm long. Flowers in July, August, September, October or November. Occurs in the South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Jarrah Forest (JF), Mallee (MAL) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
