Non-lignotuberous shrub or tree, 3-8 m high. Fl. pink-red, Jul to Oct. Yellow or red sand, sandy clay, loam, clay, gravel, quartz. Sandplains.

Scientific Description

Trees or Shrubs, 3-8 m high; branchlets glabrous or hairy. Leaves alternate, (80-)100-250(-260) mm long, 4-10 mm wide, glabrous; lamina flat, more or less the same width throughout, entire. Inflorescences axillary, red or pink; pedicels 1.5-2.5 mm long. Perianth 7-8 mm long, glabrous; ovary glabrous; pistil 16-23 mm long, pollen presenter erect, style glabrous. Follicles 14-25 mm long, 10-16 mm wide, corky tetrahedral projections (on external surfaces of fruit) absent; seed 10-22 mm long (including wing), 5.5-9 mm wide, the wing discontinuous, marginal, extending down one lateral side only. Flowers in July, August, September or October. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Yalgoo (YAL), Murchison (MUR), Great Victoria Desert (GVD), Coolgardie (COO), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Mallee (MAL) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
