Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or in the census. We are hoping to be able to reinstate services around December 15; we will provide an update at that time.

The notice period started at 9:00 am on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 +08:00 and will end at 12:00 pm on Monday, 15 December 2025 +08:00.

Non-lignotuberous shrub, 1.5-3 m high. Fl. pink/pink-purple, Jan to Feb or Nov. Yellow or red/brown sandy soils, loam, gravel.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 1.5-3 m high; branchlets glabrous or hairy. Leaves alternate, 80-215 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, glabrous; lamina terete, entire. Inflorescences axillary, pink; pedicels 3-4 mm long. Perianth 4-5 mm long, glabrous; ovary glabrous; pistil 9-11 mm long, pollen presenter erect, style glabrous. Follicles 16-22 mm long, 8-11 mm wide, corky tetrahedral projections (on external surfaces of fruit) absent; seed 11-14 mm long (including wing), 5-6 mm wide, the wing discontinuous, marginal, extending ± unequally down each lateral side. Flowers in July, August or September. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Yalgoo (YAL), Murchison (MUR), Coolgardie (COO), Geraldton Sandplains (GS) or Avon Wheatbelt (AW) IBRA subregion(s).
