Bushy shrub, 1.5-3 m high. Fl. red/pink-purple-red, Apr to Sep. Red sand, loam. Red sand dunes, sandplains, hillsides.
Scientific Description
Shrubs, 1.5-3 m high; branchlets glabrous or hairy. Leaves alternate, 45-240 mm long, (1.6-)2 mm wide, glabrous; lamina terete, entire. Inflorescences axillary, red or pink; pedicels 5-7 mm long. Perianth 7-12 mm long, glabrous; ovary glabrous; pistil 15-22 mm long, pollen presenter lateral, style glabrous. Follicles 22-35 mm long, 16-23 mm wide, corky tetrahedral projections (on external surfaces of fruit) absent; seed 15-20 mm long (including wing), 12-15 mm wide, the wing discontinuous, marginal, extending ± unequally down each lateral side. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August or September. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) Botanical Province(s), in the Pilbara (PIL), Gascoyne (GAS), Little Sandy Desert (LSD), Gibson Desert (GD) or Murchison (MUR) IBRA subregion(s).
