Service Notice

The Western Australian Herbarium’s collections management system, WAHerb, and DBCA’s flora taxonomic names application, WACensus, have been set to read-only mode since 1 October 2025. Recent taxonomic changes are not currently being reflected in Florabase, herbarium collections, or the census. Due to the rapidly approaching holiday season and associated agency and facility soft closures, along with the substantial work involved in data mapping, cleaning, and verification, the migration to the new collection management software is not expected to occur before 1 March 2026, when a further update will be provided. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Rounded or open, non-lignotuberous shrub, 1.5-3 m high, to 3.5 m wide. Fl. white/cream-pink, Apr to Oct. White, grey/brown sand over limestone or laterite, loam, gravel.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, 1.5-3 m high; branchlets hairy. Leaves alternate, 20-70 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, glabrous; lamina terete or flat, clearly widest above the middle, once divided, tripartitely divided, entire or divided to the midrib. Inflorescences axillary, cream; pedicels 4-6 mm long. Perianth 8-9 mm long, hairy; ovary glabrous; pistil 8-10 mm long, pollen presenter lateral, style glabrous. Follicles 15-25 mm long, 6-9 mm wide, corky tetrahedral projections (on external surfaces of fruit) absent; seed 13 mm long (including wing), 5-7 mm wide, the wing discontinuous, apical. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August, September or October. Occurs in the Eremaean (ER) or South-west (SW) Botanical Province(s), in the Coolgardie (COO), Geraldton Sandplains (GS), Swan Coastal Plain (SWA), Avon Wheatbelt (AW), Jarrah Forest (JF), Mallee (MAL), Warren (WAR) or Esperance Plains (ESP) IBRA subregion(s).
