Compact, perenial, woody shrub, to 1 m high, leaves bunched at shoots, oblanceolate, 3-10 mm long, 0.5-1 mm long; spikes yellow, ovoid-orbicular, 6-12 mm long, 6-10 mm wide; bracts 0.8-1 mm long; bracteoles 1.8-2.2 mm long; tepals 3.4-4 mm long; 5 fertile stamens; ovary glabrous, style 1.4-1.8 mm long, sigmoid, centrally fixed to ovary. Fl. yellow, Aug to Sep. Brown sandy clays. Bases of breakaways, rocky scree slopes.

Scientific Description

Shrubs, stems single, more or less erect, glabrous. Leaves present, 3-10 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, glabrous; basal rosette absent; cauline leaves opposite or alternate. Spikes yellow or orange, ovoid or spherical, clustered, with densely arranged flowers. Bracts 0.8-1 mm long, coloured, hairy, not awned or mucronate, with an obscure midrib. Bracteoles 1.8-2.2 mm long, colourless, hairy, not awned or mucronate, with an obscure midrib. Outer tepals 3.4-4 mm long, entire. Inner tepals 3.6-4.2 mm long, glabrous within. Style 1.4-1.8 mm long, sigmoid, centrally fixed to ovary. Distribution: Eremaean Botanical Region; IBRA regions: Little Sandy Desert, Murchison.
