Prostrate to ascending or erect annual or perennial, herb, 0.01-0.5 m high. Fl. white-pink-purple-red, Jan to Oct. Clay, gravelly sand, skeletal soils, sandstone. Granite outcrops, sandy rises, pindan floodplains, rocky hillsides.
