Erect perennial, herb, to 0.75 m high. Fl. green, Apr to Jul. Limestone. Outcrops & plateaus.
Scientific Description
Perennial herbs or annuals, stems single, more or less erect, persistently hairy, with nodose hairs. Leaves present, (15-)20-50(-70) mm long, 7-10(-15) mm wide, persistently hairy, with nodose hairs; basal rosette absent; cauline leaves alternate. Spikes green, ovoid or cylindrical, solitary, with densely arranged flowers. Bracts (9-)9.5-10.5(-11) mm long, coloured, hairy, awned or mucronate, with a prominent midrib. Bracteoles 7-8 mm long, coloured, glabrous, awned or mucronate, with a prominent midrib. Outer tepals 19.5-20(-21) mm long, entire. Inner tepals 18-19(-20) mm long, glabrous within. Style (14-)14.5-15 mm long, sigmoid, centrally fixed to ovary. Seeds 1.9-2 mm long, dull, brown or orange or pale brown. Distribution: Northern Botanical Region.
