Scientific Description
Habit and structure. Thallus erect, to 17 cm tall, medium to dark brown, dichotomously branched. Axes flattened, 4–7 mm wide, generally of a similar width throughout or becoming broader towards the involute apices. Sporangial sori narrowly elongate, 10–30 mm long, close to and parallel with the lateral thallus margins, on both surface of the thallus.
Distribution. Occurs in the warmer waters of the Indian Ocean. In Australia, known from Jurien Bay to Broome, W.A.
Habitat. Epilithic in the intertidal and shallow subtidal.
