Scientific Description

Shrubs or perennial herbs, stems single or several, more or less erect, glabrous. Leaves present, 5-35 mm long, 1.5-7 mm wide, glabrous; basal rosette present; cauline leaves alternate. Spikes magenta or red, ovoid or cylindrical, solitary, with densely arranged flowers. Bracts (5.3-)5.5-6(-6.2) mm long, colourless, hairy, awned or mucronate, with an obscure midrib. Bracteoles (5.8-)6-6.3(-6.5) mm long, colourless, hairy, awned or mucronate, with a prominent midrib. Outer tepals 11-11.4 mm long, not entire. Inner tepals 10.5-11.2 mm long, with a basal tuft of hairs on inner face. Style 3.2-3.5 mm long, straight or sigmoid, obliquely fixed to ovary. Distribution: Eremaean Botanical Region; IBRA regions: Gascoyne, Great Sandy Desert, Great Victoria Desert, Little Sandy Desert.
