Perennial, herb (or many-stemmed subshrub), to 0.9 m high. Red pindan soils, yellow-brown sand, alluvium, red loam, black or red clay, granite, sandstone, basalt, laterite, limestone. Steep rocky slopes, hills and ridges, river banks and creeklines, edge of beach.
