Erect, branching shrub, 0.5-1.5 m high. Skeletal, shallow, acidic soils of orange-red or red-brown sandy loams and clayey silts. Footslopes, lower to upper slopes and hillcrests.
Scientific Description
Shrub, spines absent; branchlets smooth, without distinct raised glands, +/- cylindrical in cross-section, glabrous. Leaves alternate, simple, 2-5 mm long, 0.7-1 mm wide, flat, the margins flat, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous; stipular excrescences absent. Flowers terminal. solitary; calyx present, 3-6 mm long, smooth, without distinct raised glands, glabrous except for a ciliate marginal fringe, the hairs stellate (star-shaped); corolla red, brown or orange, petals five, 10-14 mm long, connate, glabrous; stamens twice as many as petals, 12-17 mm long, smooth, hairy; anthers 2-2.5 mm long, without an appendage; style 14-20 mm long, hairy. Flowers in July, August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Yalgoo IBRA region(s). Conservation Code: Priority Three (P3).
