Tree or shrub, to 4.5 m high, bark smooth grey on main stems, upper branches yellow; flower heads globular. Fl. yellow, Apr to Aug. Red-brown to yellow-brown sand, brown loamy clay, alluvial sand, skeletal soils, sandstone. Plains, along watercourses, lower slopes, roadsides.
