Scientific Description

Habit and structure. Thallus mostly upright but with lower branches sometimes repent, dark green, attached to the substratum by a spongy base, with terete, dichotomously branched axes. Utricles often slightly unevenly constricted below the apex, medullary siphons with a plug closely adjacent to the point of departure from the utricle.

Distribution. Known from India, east Africa, and north-western Australia.

Habitat. Epilithic in the intertidal.
