Scientific Description

Habit and structure. Thallus erect, olive-brown, to 7 cm tall and broad, arising from a broad attachment, dichotomously branched, divaricate with rounded axils; lower interdichotomies 2–3 cm long, becoming shorter distally and, as a result, occasionally appearing polychotomous. Branches 15–20 mm diam. near the base, attenuating rapidly to 2–3 mm near the obtuse apices. Reproductive structures not observed.

Distribution. Known from Vietnam, India and the Dampier Archipelago, northern W.A.

Habitat. Grows on intertidal flats.
