Erect annual or perennial, herb, to 2.6 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar to Jun. Sand, red-brown clay. River banks, flood plains, paddocks.

Scientific Description

Erect, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, continuous with stem, 40-100 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 2.5-3 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 4-5 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11-13.5 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 11-12.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 11-12 mm long, not auriculate, keel 12-14 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.6-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 11-11.5 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 11.5-13 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 15 mm long, 8 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May and June. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Northern Kimberley and Victoria Bonaparte IBRA regions.
